Many people love to collect things, but why? Psychologists and collectors have different opinions. The psychologist Carl Jung believes that collecting is part of our ancient human history. Thousands of years ago, humans collected nuts and berries. They kept them carefully and ate them when there was no food. The best collectors survived long cold winters or seasons without rain. Their genes passed to future generations. Nowadays, we still have a collecting instinct. Historian Philip Bloom has a different opinion. He thinks collectors want to make something that will remain after their death. By bringing many similar items together, the collector gains historical importance. The purpose of the campaign is to promote people's love of reading. Through reading, people can acquire knowledge and enhance wisdom, and reading can help improve their quality of life as well. As a college student, I believe that we young students should play a leading role in this campaign. First of all, we can start with ourselves and read books every day, thus setting a good example for others. Secondly, we can recommend some good books to people around us and encourage them to read. Thirdly, we can set up a reading corner and organize some reading activities. In these ways, we can surely do our own part to promote the nationwide reading campaign.
